Shiitake mushrooms are one of the tastiest and easiest to grow. 🍄 🍄 🍄 🍄
This was the biggest flush of the season so far! They’ll do this once or twice a year, but sometimes also produce smaller quantities occasionally as well.
These maple tree logs were cut and plugged with mushroom spawn in 2021, during a work-party with friends led by @phototropic_stump
They’ll likely keep producing this high quality food for 5+ years with very little ongoing management time needed.
They’re great for adding flavor and nutrition to soups, stir fries, and can be dehydrated for long term storage.
